New Addition To My Library
I have been tossing around the idea of adding leather bound books to my little library for some time...I had been putting it off due to my need to toss a few paperback books in my purse as I'm running around town, laying in the sun trying my hardest to get a little color or just sitting in a long awaited bubble bath. My books are well loved, underlined, highlighted, sticky noted and sometimes dog eared..This decision to add "grown up books" to my collection, carefully selected classic books that are as beautiful on the outside as the stories told on the inside, is something I do not take lightly as they are destined to become the shining stars of my collection. Admired from a distance, read and handled carefully but loved non the same. They feel different as there is a sense of revelry to them, a majestic mysticism that is tangible just by running your hand across the spine...However no matter how many beautiful leather bound books I will own in my lifetime, it will always be the messy, doodled, underlined, paperback books I will love the most.
"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown."
H. P. Lovecraft
Your description of the joy you feel from your collection matches my own emotional response, but said far better than I could.
